Revolutionizing Golf Training: Polly Mack and the Markerless ELVA System
How the LPGA Tour professional uses instant, sensor-free feedback to perfect her swing mechanics
At the PGA Show, Dr. Rob Neal introduced LPGA player Polly Mack at the ELVA booth. They discussed her experience using the ELVA system, a markerless 3D swing analysis tool.
Polly demonstrated a drill recommended by her swing coach, Gregor Tilch, designed to help her get her chest more open. The drill involves taking a step forward after the swing. This movement ensures her balance remains forward and her upper body gets over the ball. She explained that it prevents her hip from separating from her upper body.
Using ELVA's side-by-side comparison feature, Dr. Neal showed the difference between Polly's drill swing and her original swing. At the impact position (P7), the system visually confirmed that the drill resulted in more rotation, as slightly more of her left shoulder was visible.
Polly highlighted the ease of using the ELVA system, noting several key advantages:
- It requires no sensors, no calibration, and no wiring up.
- Players can simply step in and step out.
- This efficiency makes it ideal for group sessions, such as those with the national team.
Polly now uses the system at her home course, praising its ability to deliver video and instant feedback within seconds.
