Seeing Is Believing: How 3D Data Helps Golfers of All Capabilities

Fix your swing faster with 3D Data

JLPGA player Yuting Shi knows that frustration well. But during a recent week of learning with Dr. Neil, she found something that changed how quickly she could solve it: the ability to actually see her swing in 3D.

The problem with fixing what you can't see

Two of the issues Yuting was working through, a sway and a problem at the top of her swing, are exactly the kind that are hard to diagnose by feel alone. A sway is subtle. The top of the swing happens in a fraction of a second, far out of your own line of sight. You can be told you're doing it, but being told and being able to see it are very different things.

That gap is where progress usually stalls. Without clear information, you're left trusting someone else's read of your motion and hoping your corrections are landing. It's hard to commit fully to a change when you can't verify it's the right one.

What changed: the data made the problem obvious

Working with Dr. Neil and ELVA 3D data, Yuting was able to find her problem fast — and fix it just as fast. In her words, it was "very easier to find my problem on the 3D," and she fixed her sway and the top of her swing "very quicker this week because I can see the 3D data."

That speed isn't a small thing. The same corrections that might take weeks of guesswork came together in a single week, because the diagnosis stopped being a guess. When the problem is visible, the fix becomes obvious and you stop wasting time on the wrong thing.

Why visibility builds confidence

The deeper benefit Yuting points to isn't just speed. It's confidence. Seeing the 3D data made her, in her words, "more confident to change a lot."

This is the part that matters most. Most players hesitate to make real changes because they're not sure the change is right — and that hesitation keeps them stuck halfway, never fully committing. When the data shows you exactly what's happening, that doubt disappears. You're no longer hoping a change is correct; you can see that it is. And once you trust the change, you can commit to it completely.

It showed up where it counts

The best validation came on the course. Yuting saw real improvement in her play that same week and that's the proof that turns a technical session into genuine momentum. A change that holds up under the pressure of actual golf is a change you can build on.

As she put it, the improvement on the course made her "very excited" and that excitement is fueling what comes next.

Looking ahead

Yuting isn't treating this as a finish line. She's planning to keep working harder and is already looking forward to next season. That's the mindset that makes a tool like 3D analysis so powerful: it doesn't replace the work, it makes the work count. Every hour of practice goes further when you can see exactly what you're improving.

For any player stuck guessing at their swing, Yuting's week is a simple reminder that sometimes the fastest way forward is just being able to see clearly.

Thanks to Yuting Shi for sharing her experience, and to Dr. Neil for the session.
